Minolta Hi-Matic CS

March 07, 2017 by Paul Lovell

Introduced in 1972 the Minolta Hi-Matic CS is basically a Hi-Matic F by a different name.

When I found this Hi-Matic CS I thought I had found a new Hi-Maic that I had not seen or read about. This one has been used and abused, battered and bruised. The filter ring is bent, the rewind crank is not original and the paint is worn. But it still works! Tough little camera.

It took some work to figure out that this is a Hi-Matic F. It was built specifically for sale by Sears in the US market and only available in black. Other than looking good in black, it is an F and a beat down one at that. If you like the fully automatic feature of the Hi-Matic F, the CS is a unique option. Mine was a nice shooter even after the abuse it has suffered.

Lens: Minolta Rokkor 38mm f2.7

Film: FujiColor 100
