Pentax IQZoom EZY-80

Pentax IQZoom EZY-80 from about 2002. Also known as the Pentax ESPIO 80V.

I am getting the date from the copyright of the manual not a published release date that I could find. There was not too much to find writer about the EZY-80. I would have guessed it to be mid to late ‘90s because it looks like most of the consumer cameras from that time.

Operationally it is a consumer point and shoot. Takes a single 3v 123 battery. On/Off button on top. Lever to zoom. Auto focus seemed reasonable. Automatic film advance. There is a date back but you can turn it off. Basic straight forward, consumer point and shoot with decent image quality.

My Take:

There is nothing unique about the IQZoom EZY-80 that should compel someone to get this specific camera. At the same time, there are no fatal flaws that would prevent you from getting one.

I like to have a point and shoot in my bag. Not for that epic shot but for that casual shot. Call it lomography, memory maker, or point and shoot: there is something nice about just having a quick camera to capture the ordinary. A bonus of using an old consumer camera is my lack of attachment to the camera. If (when) it breaks, gets lost or stolen, too bad. I like to have one in my camera bag, in my car and even in a pocket.

Find one and shoot it like you don’t care. See if you are like me and like the freedom of being artistically irresponsible and not making every shot count.
